Just picked up the new CAT
#11
sounds like everyone likes their Cats. I did go to a dealer today that had all the models and said I should stop again and I can ride a few different Cats and see how I like them. I think I will take him up on it and see how they ride and if I like shifting. They do look cool and have some good features. The price on the 400 is very impressive as well. The 500 is not bad either. I might swing that way just to have the 2wd/4wd option though. I will have to ride them and see. Then I will have to sell my Polaris that I have now. I like it to but would like 4wd.

Good idea to ride one first. You may find it to your liking or you may option for something sportier feeling. I love our 400 and 500. The features, price, and reliability can't be beat. There are some other great quads out there too so look around and find something in your range of price and riding style/area. My dad and I looked for 6 monthes at different quads before he bought his 400 cat and a week later I bought my 500 cat. It was tough but the cats and the dealer won us over. Look hard at the dealer too. They can make a little problem turn into a huge headache or a big problem seem like no big deal. Our 500 cat was in the shop one time for a master cylinder problem and he made us wait in his office and brought us drinks while it was fixed on the spot! Works like a charm now. He even e-mails us on a regular basis for updates and if we have anymore pictures of out cats in action. My friend has a good polaris dealer too. They work fairly hard to get his quad up and running and they even keep some parts in the store to fix it! Ask around about dealers. Just some more advice. hope it helps!

Well, what everyone said about the front differential is right.
The only thing wrong is thinking the 2wd option will tear up your yard less. It will not. The rear axle is what is tearing up your yard. The front differinal allows the fronts to turn at different speeds, the rear axle is locked and will not turn at different speeds. This will cause the inside tire to spin faster than it needs to, tearing up the ground.

These messages have helped me alot. What you guys have said about the front Diff. I think that the dealer really is a magician. He says that he has never put one on before, and I don't think that he has ever seen ane before, so I have decided to leave it like it is. After driving it all day yesterday I have found out that it is quite easy to steer.
Thanks alot

I just put a deposit down on an AC 400 yesterday. Had a BigBear that was stolen. The AC is heads above the BB in steering, turning radius, and comfort. I did not think they could improve on the BB. More 500s seem to be sold by my dealer and from what I see here. Hope I'm not buying one that is not sellable later on. Anyway, I will pick up my ATV in a couple weeks after a trip. Has anyone heard anything about an AC $69 winch incentive to purchase an ATV?

I believe the winch option is still in effect. Your dealer should have all the information. Get the winch for sure. I didn't know how often I would use my winches, but I have to say I have used them at least three times what I would have guessed. The other thing is the AC's winch mount is as good and easy to install as any brand out there.
