Check that the diodes are all installed correctly. If one accidentally gets put in backwards, that can happen. Rev limiter hits at 7250 rpms on my AC 700. The old Suzuki design 500's would actually turn over 8,000. The new 443 Kymco motors, have no clue.

So, it's only in high? It should do 30 or so in low range. See if you can download a wiring diagram from Country Cat. There has to be a logical explanation. Check wire connections at cdi unit. Heck, I've even heard similar symptoms from bad gas, but yours sounds possessed! I have a 2014 TRV 700 with 1500 miles, which is quite similar. Closest to that , was when my 700 Diesel got some water in the tank and the fuel filter froze up.

Default rev limiter

Hydrex I do have a CD on all the tech specs on the atv , Yes when I plowed last wk with it it never happened and ran fine, even the rev limiter worked as should In reverse

then I took it up in the field after taking plow off I could not get over 20mph

I did buy a new belt from high lifter wondering if it could be wrong and causing the problem, I did see the belt seat on the primary

all the weights are new and the plate is new including the spacers all torqued to spec

wondering if the atv is just having another problem (REV LIMITER) where do you think I should look next any help would be great

Thanks Mike

Let's confirm it's not the belt slipping. Does rev limiter still work in reverse? Push the button until you get RPM'S. My guess, if it's rev limiter it will hit a fixed rpm, like 3,000 or 4,000, etc. If it's reving up high like 5,000-6,000 then it's the belt. I wish you were near me, I have an incredible ATV mechanic that works on all brands. All the dealers call him for really tough problems. Plus he only charges $50/hr. If we can't figure this out, I can call him after the holiday, he's a snowmobiler too. Anyway, Happy New Year. Maybe put the plow back on.... is it red like Christine?

Hydrex that make a whole lot of scense, when I put the belt on it looked kinda big cause it was new I rode it slow and it ran fine gradually increasing speed to 45/50 I figured the belt was seating properly, now that I had my son and I took a rip we almost full throttled it and that would cause the belt to SLIP in turn would activate the throttle limiter................I believe you solved it now my question is how do I seat the belt better I am still riding it w plow but its at low speed, again it is the correct belt from HIGH LIFTER
, should I buy another belt from someone else or is there a process to properly seat it?
thanks a lot Bud

go back to OEM belts they seem to work the best. The high lifter belt is still made by dayco and finding some spec's i would say its the wrong belt. Luckily its only a 15min job to replace a belt on a 500

Ya own is not cheap paid $280 for mine at the dealer. Only aftermarket belt I have heard that is any good is the gates carbon fiber. But my oem went 8000km with some hard snow riding where I thought I had cooked it. But measuring new and old their was basically no difference in width
