AC 500 Break- in...
#1
This is one tight engine and it has some nuts... In high range, 2nd gear, it needs a little throttle to get going then if you aren't careful a little more and it spins 26" 589 M/T's, guaranteed in 2 wheel. I am wondering after the engine breaks-in will it respond to the throttle a little sooner and smoother? Right now it feels like it needs extra power to get it going from dead stop and then the grass and gravel flys for about a quarter of a tire turn as it comes to life. There is no denying this bike has some torque ponies!!!!! Also I am a slow technical and mud rider. While I ride some trails the main purpose is hauling in and out of the bush, therefore the body roll has not been an issue so far. If it becomes an issue will the Cowboy spring spacer fix make the bike ride rougher? Also would it make sense to just do the back springs? Will it take away some of the posh Cadilac ride it currently has?
Already scrached some of the paint off of the rear rack hauling a canoe but hell til it gets a little worn it doesn't have any personality....

i have an auto so i couldn't tell you about the power issue. mine comes on without much noticable delay.i can say that the cat is a bit heavier in the front, this could contribute to the spinning. that's why it climbs so well.
i put spacers(3/8's) in the rear and noticed a big difference in body roll, especially when side hilling. it handles weight much better too, i almost always have some weight on the back and it still rides great.

Well I'm ordering a about 20 "spring adjustment washers" if I can't find any washers with the same ID as the stock ones. This will allow me to tighen the suspension up to my likings and allow it to be very tuneable. I recomend you do the same. That way you can keep adding till you think the ride is too rough then back down on the number of washers when you think it rides smooth enough. It only takes about 15 min with the right tools, so it's not that hard.
I also recomend tightening the throttle cable, I noticed a big throttle response and acceleration difference out of this.

Hey if you are still breaking in your Cat. I will tell you one thing. Drive it now like a man and i will aways be a man. Drive it the way you are going to drive it as long as you have it. If you are going to the spring convention e-mail me and we will hook up, I heard there is going to be almost 1000 people there this spring.
Thanks
