Hey guys I need a little help. Last week I was reinstalling my front right tire. When I was putting one final twist on the lug nuts one of sheared off. I really was not twisting that hard but that is beside the point. The dealer I went to told me I was going to have to buy a whole new front hub assembly. What? That is ridiculous to not be able to just get a new lug bolt. I hope some of you guys can help or am I going to have to spend way way way to much money to replace the lug bolt.

Those shouldn't break! Ouch! I don't remember seeing a standard wheel stud on the front. It's really long right? Your dealer may be right. I hope not. A good machine shop could make one and press the old one maybe. I don't know how difficult it would be to take the hub off. Could you get by with only three studs?

I don't know if I could get by with three or not. I would think in some situations it would be o.k. and in others in would not be very advisable. If you can take the hub assmebly apart it would not be a problem to put a new one in. Or maybe you don't even have to take it apart. In the rear it looks like you could just replace one very easy. Doesnt' make a whole lot of sense to me but I'm not the greatest mechanic in the world.

Could you or someone drill a hole in the remaining part and use an "easy-out" to maybe back out the old stud? This works sometimes. If not I would think any machine shop or good mechanic shop could remove the old stud.

I went home on my lunch break and looked at my 500. The rear would be no problem. The front hub is a different story. The Stud is pressed in but it looks like an integral part of the hub. They don't unscrew that is for sure. I'm going to look at it closely tonight and I'll make another reply. you've got me nervous now I don't want to pull my own tires off! You may even want to call my dealer and see what he thinks. www.tractormall.com for the phone number. I'll get back to you with some ideas tonight after work.

Well, if they are pressed in then you will have to remove the hub and have it pressed out. I do not have the shop manual in front of me at this time to know exactly. Also, not sure you can get just the stud replacement from AC.
Let us know what you find out.

If all else fails u can drill the stud out, tap the hole & use a lug bolt in place of the stud & nut.

I already talked to your dealer this weekend. I was at the dealership Friday morning. They were supposed to get back with me and still haven't. Maybe you can pull some strings for me. It kind of had them stumped also but I guess they are still working on it.

I just got home. TAAS is tomorrow so it is crazy at my school. I' WILL call Tueasday and see what to look for. You called Ewald tractor? Wow. I really think the stud is part of the hub. I just can't tell yet. I'm looking into it.

Waco,
I read your post yesterday and just happened to have my front wheels off last night. I didn't take the whole hub off the disk, but replacing that lug looks tough without replacing the whole hub.

I guess if it were me, replacing that hub by taking the 4 or 5 bolts off the disk and replacing it looks a lot easier than trying to fabricate something for that broken stud. IMO. Good luck.
