Is it that big of a deal?

If you left it in 4w all the time, what would be the difference. Just speed?

I have a Manual CAT 500 and it has a lever not a switch to go from 2w/4w. It steers a little easier but what I really notice is the sharp turning radius especially on surfaces where you can kick the back end around. On tight trails where traction is not a problem it is the way to go. It can actually feel a LITTLE sporty!!. I have 589 M/T's so they really hook up even in 2w.

Ok, I think I understand. So 2w gives you alittle better stearing so you can do sporty moves. (less traction) I guess that makes sence.

So if you are mainly doing mudding and climbing 2w is pointless, but if you are all trail riding 2w is nice?

How about less wear and tear on the differentials.
