I realize i have asked a lot of questions about the 2000-2001 AC,
which i intend to purchase within the next 2 weeks,(250CC 4X4).

and i appreciated all responces.
However, i would hate to be stuck in the woods simply because of a blown fuse or some other electrical part.
Doe's anybody have any advice on which "cheap" electrical part may give out on my first ride?.
How about sugestions of simple(cheap)electronic spares i should carry?.

Of course if it did brake down on my first ride the dealer who sold it to me ,would have one hell of a pissed off guy to deal with!

I'm not the kind of guy who spends $6200, gets screwed and forgets about it.

Thank's in advance guy's!

Hey, don't worry at all about asking questions-that's exactly what this forum is all about-we're all here to help-if we can that is! I don't blame you for not wanting a break down after spending that much money on a machine. If it makes you feel any better, My 'Cat has had NO problems what so ever that I didn't do on my own. (I caught air once, landed hard on a stump, broke the corner off my airbox-easily replaced for about $17 ??? if I remember right-then sunk it in a river, had water in every nook and cranny possible I think-it was ugly, even I went under, head and all.) I have about 1,200 miles on it now, and have been running my 27" Bi/Tri Claws since I had only 250 or so-with the spacer lift as well-still no problems.

As far as electrical goes, the most common thing that I can think of is you might blow a fuse when crossing deep water. Your fan will be turning in the water, it will short out the fuse, you'll have to put a new fuse in. I've crossed rack deep stuff a lot now-especially with the claws, and not had this happen to me, but several others have. The cure is to install a "fan off" switch, which when you cross deep water, you can flip the switch to shut the fan off for the crossing, then flip it back on when you're done in the really deep water. Several guys on here have done this, so if you need help, I'm sure there'd be quite a few guys willing to give advice on how to wire it all up right.

Anyway, best of luck with the new rig-when you get it! Be sure to let us know what you think-I'm sure you'll love it!

I have had a 300 since 2000, not a single problem except solinoid which was replaced under warranty. I hope that $6200. includes tax because I only paid $7000. with tax & winch out the door. Forget the fan part from Cowboy, 250 & 300 don't have a fan.

Have an 01 500 auto with around 250 miles on it. The low beams keep shorting out. Brought it back to the dealer and they tried to fix it twice and failed so far. The mechanic seems to think it is a ground problem. He had it working for a while after the second time, but the low beams went out again after a few hours. Now that the mechanic closest to me has tried twice and failed to fix it, I'm going to drive an extra hour to the dealer I bought it from and let their mechanic go to town. They stand to loose the most from me I guess because I bought from there. I must say that I love the AC 500, but it has had some problems.
1. Radiator leakage
2. Fan fuse blowing every time I try to go in deep water (Installing a switch soon thanks to DakotaCart (sp?).
3. Low beam shorts out
4. Belt is screaming a lot more loudly than the first 100 miles or so
5. Belt is slipping on take off

Yes, I had the dealer do a 100 mile check up, so the belt shouldn't be doing it after only 150 miles more!

Like I said, I love the Cat - it kicks butt in mud and rock crawling, but I'm jumping ship for the new Grizz. I would still recommend a Cat to anyone asking because I think overall they are reliable, I've had some bad luck is all. Good luck!

YankeeCat-
Next time you get a chance, you might pull your tranny casing apart, spray in that Gunk Engine Bright that Minehunter was talking about a while back. I tried it on mine, was amazed at all the black residue that came out. It now runs smoother and A LOT more quiet than before-doesn't "whine" near like it did, and you can tell a difference between my 'Cat sitting next to my Dad's-I didn't do his yet. If you run in the mud or water that much, I'm sure there is debris in there, cleaning it out really well will make a big difference. -If you try it though, be sure to pull the floorboard and foot brake assembly off. I left mine on, had a hell of a time getting a couple of the bolts back in the bottom of the housing. It would be a lot easier without the floorboard or foot brake on there.

BTW-that new Grizz does look like an awesome machine. If you do get it, let us know what you think!
