Went out riding today and everything was going good until I heard a noise coming from the rear of the clutch housing of my 01 500 Auto. After trying to isolate where the noise was coming from the rear tires locked up and the machine wasn't in gear. I remembered when I was at a dealership one of the mechanics had an motor/tranny out and it seems that there is a gear in the trans that is bolted on and in this case the bolts lossened up destroying the gear. Has anyone else had this problem with there machine, mine only has 400mi on it. Oh yeah the noise is a loud "clicking" sound in gear or out. Thanks guys.

I HAVE A 2001 AUTO AND I HAVENT HAD THAT PROBLEM YET...I DID HAVE A LEAKING PINION SEAL AT ABOUT 150 MILES AND 4 DEFECTIVE SHOCKS THAT THE DEALER WARRANTEED. I HAVE HEARD OF PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT DIFF. BUT NOT THE REAR.

Auto500, I have had a similar problem on a ride in West Virginia. I had to be towed 35 miles back to the camp. Turned out to be a bearing failure for the fourth time.
