2002 375 Auto, or 2001 500 Auto
#1
I know, I know I said I made up my mind for a new 375 but...
My dealer has a new 2001 500 Auto With a Warn Winch for $5,599.
Just $200 more than the list price of a new 375.
I noticed the 2001 500 has 25X10-12 Front tires and the 2002 has 25X8-12. What would be the advantages of either one. I am very temted to go for the 2001 500. I do like the new looks a little better, but for a biggger engine at that price with the winch is pretty tempting....
Thanks for any input,
CatCLAWS

Our 400 has the 8" wide titans and the 500 has the 10" titans. Since I ride both I'll tell you straight up that the 8" wide tires steer much easier. Both work well. That was one of the selling points for my folks who liked the easier steering feel of the 8" titans. Remember that this is also on a full time 4wd Cat like the 400. Even in 2wd the 500 cat steers abit tougher. The 500 is also a bit heavier up front since I have a winch (about 25 Lbs. extra) which may explain the extra effort not to mention the bigger contact patch the 10" titans offer. Bottom line is the 8" tires steer much easier. It was probably easier for AC to switch to an 8" tire than to redisign a new steering system for less effort. With the way engine sizes are going don't be surprised to see power steering and air conditioning on a four wheeler soon. Enjoy them whatever you get catclaws!

The 25x10x12 Titian 489s will give you better traction vs the 25x8x12 Dunlops on the 2002.
As for 2001 500 vs 2002 375. That is realy tougher than it would seem at first. You have about 2" more ground clerance, a softer seat, new plastic design, new racks, new fan, better lights, air cooling, easier steering, better shifter, better suspension, and more with the 2002 375.
With the 2001 500 you have more power, better tires for mudding, , liquid cooling, a narrower seat (I wish the 2002 was as soft as it is but as narrow as the older models), better seat latch, and more modifications avalible for it so far.
That seems like a toughfy to me.

The 375 also has much better waterproofing for the belt, an extra seal on the outer clutch bearings ( this has been a problem with some 00 & 01 autos), softer riding suspension, real shift on the fly 2 to 4 wheel drive ( much easier to operate), marine grade connectors for the electrics and possibly depending who you talk to beter looking front end.
The downside is more vulnerable headlights, need rear spacers or after market rims to run bigger tires in the rear, almost no after market parts available (yet) and (IMO) not as strong of a front bumper (allready bent mine)
As long as you don't try to submarine them either one is great. I haven't riden a 375 but, I hear they are a lot faster than one would belive. Ride them both the decide don't let a few sawbucks change your mind, when you spend that much you should get what you want.
