Pavement riding with 300
#2
Thats pretty good for a 300, especially the way people on the forum always say that the 300's only go around 40-45 max. I bet if you posted that on the Other Atv Topics thread, you would get a lot of people calling BS on you. I won't do it. My honda 300 is 10 years old, and maybe 4 mph slower than the cat. Now there is a difference with 2 riders on both, but that isn't important. My friend has a 91 300 that will slightly pull away from my 89. I would guess it is pretty close to my 500. His 4x4 300 honda is a lot slower though. When I first got the AC, after about 80 miles, my cousin and I got the honda and the AC side by side around 45 and then took them full throttle. The cat was maybe 1 mph. faster and indicated about 53mph then. It loosened up more at about 200 miles and by 450 miles, I was getting 58 on pavement with 89 octane gas. The only time I have buried the speedometer on it was going downhill on a paved surface. It seems that somedays it is a couple mph faster than others. I guess its the gas. I don't always put the same octane in it. On dirt, I get about 54-56 at best depending on if its level or downhill.
