Sled owners of the ZR800

I agree! Rotax puts out more HP than any other motor per cubic inch for snowmobiles! Take for an example the 340cc Rotax engine used in Formula 1 racing produces just about 5 HP per cubic inch of displacement while running on gasoline! Your Chevy 302 would be putting out 1500 HP if it made Hp as efficiently. That little 340cc twin produces more peak HP than the 800cc triple did in 1971.

Hey man i have a 99 ZR 600 EFI and a 98 Thundercat. The efi is the best setup i have ever driven on a sled...i never have to worry about my altitude and jetting and i always start on 2 pulls(1 to power the chip and the next to start it). i have never fouled a plug and never bog out. The thunder cat is really heavy compared to the 2 cylinder 600 and the 800 doesn't weight to much less. Normally it start within 4 pulls but if it is cold it can take 6-7 and it isn't super easy to pull over...it sucks when it is 15 degree's out and you are in snow 4 feet deep and you can start the machine easily. when the t-cat runs it is fast but it is hard to put the power down-it always breaks the track free even though it's studded. the real problem is that as u pass through mountains the alltitude often changes dramaticly and i loose about 2hp(guess) at time when the jetting is really wrong and at times it will bog....but both cats make and put down way beter than any rotax i have ever raced even slightly moded ones!but u wont make a mistake with the engine...it is a monster.
