ATV STICKERS

Is it illegal to take the warning labels off a quad? I ask because on arctic cats they are just stuck there and not bolted and I thought it would look better if they weren't there. Sorta how sport quads have plates you can buy to cover them up. Is there rules against reselling a quad without them? If anyone knows anything please reply. Thanx

Don't know about the legality issues, I can't see how removing them would cause harm-unless it's like that warning label on the underside of your bed matteress-you know, the one that says it's a "federal crime" to remove this label-what's the deal with that thing anyway??? Anyway, two of my stickers are pealing off from mud and water on the fenders. Looks pretty tacky half on/half off, but I have been too lazy to just rip them off all the way-figured the sticky stuff would stay there and collect more dirt/dust and really look bad, be a bear to wash off. I say it's your machine, if you don't like them, rip the damn things off!

Its not illegal as far as I know. More of a "keep the lawyers happy" kinda thing. Each manaufacturer has their own individual stickers so that means to me that it is not a government mandated sticker. Which means they came right off. One came off in five pieces but the Quad looks better now.

did you have any trouble getting yours off? You do have a Cat I assume, or some other quad with sticky labels... I figure there must be some sort of solution you can buy anyway that would get the sticky crap off if worst came to worst. The fact that they aren't the same on every quad is good enough reason for them to go on my new cat!
and as for the bed labels.. we will never know the reason.. maybe is is some mattress company conspiracy.......

Don't know about the legal issues where you are, but I took all my stickers off with Acetone. Worked great to remove the glue without damaging the plastic. Check it on a small hidden spot first though in case your plastic is different.

The safety stickers are part of the 1988 Consent Decree agreement between the manufactures of ATVs and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. It is law for the stickers to be on NEW ATVs before they ever leave the dealership showroom floor, however, the owners do NOT have to leave these stickers on.

Thanks for the reply. I was going to take them off anyway since everyone seemed to support my intial thought on the matter but now it is nice to have an actual ATV inspector that knows what he is talking about give input.
Thanks everyone
