The county soil conservation district is considering a midsize 4X4 quad. It would be used to stake terraces and whatever else is needed in the field. They also want to put a measuring device on to measure feet. It will be riden across rough chiseled fields at times, and that's whay I thought the AC IRS was the way to go.
Would an automatic be the way to go? It's a lot of stop and go and possibly just sitting on the side to move up a hundered feet at a time. I'm sold on automatics myself, but haven't riden an AC. What size machine is available in an auto?

For simplicity sake, assuming many different people may be riding it i would say that the auto is the way to go,as it eliminates the learning curve associated with novice riders and manuals. As for stopping and going alot, i have a 1998 500 Manual and for the most part i just leave it in 3rd gear all the time. The start in gear feature eliminates the need to shift to neutral all the time and the 500 has more then enough torque to get the bike rolling. Im sure the 300's would be just as able , perhaps you would have to leave it in 2nd gear though.
