The 500i auto has a mechanical shift (pull the lever) for 2wd into 4wd, is it "shift on the fly" - can you be moving and shift in 4wd or do you need to stop and shift?

Also, I realize it's not a fast or quick as other big quads, not too worried about top speed but can a clutch kit help with improving acceleration, I know of aftermarket clutch kits for Polaris machines really help acceleration - does anyone know of a company making a clutch kit for the 500i auto tranny???

Yes you can shift while moving just make sure the rear tires aren't spinning. The 02s shift much easier than previous models. I like the idea of pulling a lever to engage the front end. I would hate to be miles from anywhere and have a stick rip my wires that engage my front end out. This is one reason I bought an AC. Heck my truck still has manual hubs and a lever.
As far as the clutch kit, I know of some people on this forum that have modified theirs, by redrilling a hole and moving a spring. I think they had good results. You can do a search or they will probably reply. But ride as many as you can and before you decide what to buy, then look for a good dealer that you can trust. A good dealer can make your experience great or absolutely terrible. What ever you get ride it! Good luck.
