NEED HELP WITH NEW TIRES
#11
Dropped off the Kawi to get the Dirt Devils installed. Sorry for the delay, we where snowed in on Monday and I dropped the machine off this mornimg. I'll pick her up tomorrow, and give a report. We now have about 6-8" of snow with plenty of drifts. Everything was frozen, the rear brake and the front pads to the rotors. Boy I hate winter.

Zukiscott- I want all the ground clearance i can get because i like to be able to go over rocks, stumps, logs, etc with out bottoming out. I am thinking about 28 inchers, but the 27x10-12 DD's are cheaper, and with a High Lifter Lift Kit i should have plenty of clearance.
The Cat has kept up with the Quest as far as traction very well. On straight hill climbs i think i get alittle better traction because of the cat having more weight on the front tires than the Quest does. On those steep, twisty climbs when one tire has less weight on it than the other,i think the Quest would definitly have the advantage because of it's all-wheel drive system (Visco-Lock).But the Quest will smoke my cat when it comes to speed. My dad and i got out on the open road the other day and we both punched it while going about 30 mph and he left me behind easily. My speedo read 52 or 53 and his was over 60! 60 mph isn't to shabby, considering the Quest's throttle limiter screw was only about 1/2 way out!

Finally got the dirt devils on the kawi 650. Instantly noticed something I never had with the Dunlops, and that would be TRACTION. Conditions of ride where 6-8" of snow, temperature about 36 degrees, snow starting to get heavy.I could go places in 2 wd drive where I had to use 4wd with the Dunflats. Put the trailer away behind the garage in 2wd. Got stuck taking the trailer out in 4wd with the dunflats. Trail performance is good, the bike's front end doesn't roll as bad in corners, due to the stiffer ride. Rear end fish tails are controlled, not unpredictable like the dunflats. With the dunflats you would feel the rear end come unhooked and loose control, the rear end would come out from under you. I rode the open fields back home with 8" of snow cover over my path in 2 wd. Last time it had to be in 4wd. I did notice a slight front end wobbled/ Shake at approx mid throttle once at top cruising speed 58 mph she would even out. Good tire, good traction handled extremely well thru the snow covered trails. So far so good.
