I have rode most of those machines, even the 500i, and I agree with them. That Rubi had much more acceleration, and that was one of the slower ones. Sometimes the truth hurts.

you guys are all talking about top speed. let me tell you that my 400 cat will run with most of the 500. the only thing i have done to it is the k&n filter. i do believe that the gearing is higher than most.
i ride with my brother-in-law, and another friend of mine they both have 500 suz.manual my little kitty will eat them up all day long. i have riden with 500 rubis,450 foremans,400 prairie, kodiaks and 600 grizzly. the only one that i never really ran against hard was the 600 griz cause my wife was on the back. the the rubicaon will pull away on an uphill slightly. but once at the toop i am all over him. me next machine will be a 500i.

No AC made will run with a 600 Grizzly. Not in acceleration or top end. It won't out accelerate a Rubicon either, but it won't be totally left behind.

okay...

I'm looking to get my first quad... I really like the AC...

First I was in love with the 375 4x4 auto... now I'm thinking I might like the 300 4x4 instead... HELP! I don't really care which tranny I get, but I really want some pep and a good ride..

Sugestions?

I think the point made was they didn't buy it to outrun everyone else. Everyone knew how fast the AC was when they bought it, and the fact that it gets beaten by some quads didn't influence their decision. Other factors like reliability came into play. I know a guy with a 400 sportsman that runs like crazy. Problem is, its a 96 model, only has 650 miles on it, and its been in the shop like 8 times for a ton of things. 3 of those stays lasted a couple months each.

I've got to put my two cents in now that I've been reading this for the last two weeks. I own an ac 300 4x4. I farm for a living. I bought this machine because of the way it was built in that it is a pure utility machine, and it just looks like the frame is thicker and better made than the others. I could care less if it will go 60mph, or jump ten feet in the air. My point is that ac's are not built for this kind of testing. The real test comes when I'm still using my ac in ten years to pull rack wagons of hay to the pasture. That is when I'll have my last laugh!!!

OK, this thread is going no where. DROP IT. ARCTIC CATS ARE NOT SPEED DEMONS, THEY DON'T MAKE HUGE HORSEPOWER, THEY ARE GEARED LOWER. EVERYONE JUST DROP IT.
