Hey guys,
I was just curious if anyone knew how to allign the front end of their cat. I put 27" tires on the cat and she steers a little to the right. The handlebars are turning right a little when I'm going straight. I did some pretty serious riding during hunting season and since I have been back it has been that way. How do I reallign the handlebars so she tracks straight?

Before doing that, try adjusting the air pressure in the tires. Different air pressures in each tire can easly cause one tire to pull to the side more than the other.

Hey Boner,
Thanks for the reply. I already checked the pressure on all four tires and they are fine. Cowboy had emailed me one time about how to do this, but I lost the email or deleted it on accident. Anyway, I do need to straighten up the front end. i don't know if it is hurting anything, but it bugs the crap out of me. He said something like take two straps and connnect them from you handlebars to your back rack so that the handlebars are straight and then adjust some nuts on the steering rods. I don't remember enough of what he said, that is why I am asking for help.

Hey Waco I started to do that same thing last weekend tied the bars back nice and evenly. Then thought to do what Boner suggested turned out that the air pressure was off. End of problem for me. If you need the procedure send me a email address and a will try to send you the info tonight when I get home. But it sounds like you just about had it. Tie the bars back so that they are even then you will need to adjust the tie-rod ends. I think the way that they have it set up is you have to loosen the jamb nut on both inner and outer ends then turn the rod. I do remember from reading the book that you want the front end to have some toe-in around 1/4". I will try and look it up tonight if you want.

Cummins,

You are on the right track there. Thats basically all there is too it. Loosen the jamb nuts (after securing the handle bars in a straight position) and turn the tie-rods as you see fit. And you are correct with the 1/4" toe in position.
