Sick Kitty (500i) - Need Input
#1
Ok fellas I spend quite a bit just reading what yall have to say about the Arctic Cat.
They are quite a few few very knowledgeable folks here so this should be a piece of cake.
Have about 90 miles on the new machine. Seems to be about 5 -10 MPH short on the top end. Just went riding today and had to switch over to reserve after 30 miles. Seems to run okay but definitely short of power pulling
polaris's and going up grades. We live at about 5000' and I asked the dealer when I picked it up if
he needed to adjust the jets. He said to break it in a little rich and adjust it later. Do you think
that's the problem or is there something else I need to be worrying about? I think someone posted they
were getting 68 miles to the tank. At my current rate I'd have to bring 2 gas cans to get that far.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Love the cat though.

I don't know much about jetting for altitude, but with only 90 mile it should still be a little tight. I just went over 190 miles on my second 02 500 and it is still a little tight. I think it takes up to about 250 - 300 miles to get them good and broke in. As far as the gas mileage that seems low. But riding style, terrain and if you are using low range a lot all have an effect on the mileage. I would guess that you would need some sort of jettig adjustment. I'm sure someone can give you more help than what I can.

If you ride at 5000 feet or higher you need to change your jet to a 142. I normally live in Idaho and ride at elevation of 5000 and higher. I had to change my jet to a 142 for that altitude. My mileage went up from 55 miles per tank to over 100. Power was also noticeably increased. BTW I ride a 500 auto.
