THANKS to all that advised me on the fix for my 500i seat latching problem...Initially, I checked the bottom of my seat for the 'extra' plastic that was mentioned...I have since realized that the over-molded plastic is on the FENDERS of the AC...It was a 2-minute fix with a utility knife, and the problem was fixed..I actually had two indentations on the fender holes from the latches, and my gorilla-like pulling on the seat latch...Anyways, I sure am glad I posted the question here, on this EXCELLENT forum... I have had the some problem. what was the fix?

 

I had some trouble re-attaching my seat. The latches would not catch properly. I posted my problem here and several riders suggested a fix, which involved removing some over-molded plastic from the hole where the latch(es) pokes through, so the latch will retract farther when you pull on the lever. Before I trimmed the plastic, I could actually see small indentations where my latches were impacting the plastic-I just enlarged those indentations with a utility knife and the latch is able to retract farther, making it much easier to re-attach the seat.

Why is it that we the consumer has to do all of these "fixes" in order to have an enjoyable bike?
