I want to up the preload on my shocks one or two notches...I have the specialized tool that came with the AC...I am wondering if anyone has done this before, and I would appreciate the knowledgable advice...I am planning to just fit the tool on the collar and wrench it around, without taking off the shocks...Is this the proper method? (I checked the manual, but it had no info on this adjustment)...I definitely dont want to break anything, but I dont want to have to remove the shock(s) either...Please let me know if you have done this before - thanks in advance!

the correct procedure is to leave the shocks on while you ajdust the spring preload. it is very easy to do, you should adjust them so you have a couple inches of sag with your weight on the machine.

Delta, It should be as easy as putting the tool on collar and cranking it around like you say. You however might want to ask "chunkyboy", he had a problem with his and I think actually cracked the collar. If I'm not mistaken he is still waiting for the replacement after a couple of months. Good luck

Delta,
After reading Chunkyboy's posts, I had my dealer adjust the shocks prior to delivery. Even then, they made sure the collar was well lubricated and told me it was kind of a bear to do. I think someone mentioned to jack up that side and take tension off the wheel.

I had no problem adjusting my shocks to a softer setting after delivery, however, everything was still well lubricated and it is easier to adjust softer than it is to adjust upwards to a stiffer suspension.
