Well I looked at my stock rims when I put on the big rubber again and I noticed no rubbing going on. There are marks of the inside of the stock rims that might look like rub marks but they are not. They are spots where they smoothed them down from the factory.

I do hear sounds coming from my wheels though, but its just the brakes that are full of sand from the last ride. The rims do rub on the inside but on the very edge not in the middle. The outer edge rubbing is from full hard turning.

Brent, mine made noise only when going strait ,but when the brakes get wet again it clears. When I clean the brake area it goes away.

My 98 quadrunner had sqweeky brakes, it was always making that noise. I hated it. Now all I hear on my cat is the sand in the brakes, well until I get them wet or cleaned out from enough riding.

Glad to hear you got it Iowa Bob. That's what we are all here for. I would try and grind or file the end of the axle down a little bit, like you said.

After re-reading this thread last night I went to look at my rims one last time. Guess what, I found out what your all talking about. I'll have to do something about that in the future. Maybe add a washer per stud per tire. Or grind the end down.

Now you guys have my attention... I'm going out to see this problem. Haven't heard anything on mine yet but it has 126 miles. We'll see.

Once I get my memory card for my digital camera I can take a picture of the problem and post it so everyone can excatly where to look. Or I can borrow my work's memory card again and post it on Monday. Either way I will have the picture up on Monday for all to see.

I just thought of something. Why would we hear sqweeking? Even if the axle is hitting the rim it still shold not sqweek. The axle and the rim are both moving at the same speed around and around. Its not like the axle has any slack and its hitting against the rim or anything, it rolls the same amount as the rim. I don't understand how it can make that noise.

Now if there is just enough of a gap in between the rim and the axle so that rocks and sand and mud can get caught then maybe thats whats making the sqweeking noise? Maybe its not the metal on metal sound but stuff caught in between making that sound?
