I have a couple questions for you guys on the 2003 models.

1) How do you take out the toolbox?

2) When you put the solenoid for the winch in the pre drilled holes behind the battery box the tool box gets in the way. Why did they pre drill holes if the solenoid would not fit there?

Thanks guys.

I,m not sure about your situation but i put mine in the battery box but i beleive your solenoid is a different one because i only have a 2000 lbs winch on mine if your solenoid fits in the box it,s a better place for it

I have the 2002 400i, and I had to take out the tool box to install the solenoid. It had 4 screws (I think) with that star-head, and let me tell you, it was a pain in the $%% to get to the back ones becacause they are inside the box. The edges of opening to the box kept scraping my knuckles. It also took me awhile to figure out that the only tool I had to turn them was included in the AC tool kit.

But, once you get that out, it's pretty straight forward. I know the 2003's have a different tool box, but since the frame is the same, I'll bet the screw locations are probably the same too.

Good luck.

JBurgland, the problem that I am having with the tool box is not taking the Torx screws out, but not being able to pull the tool box out threw the frame.

Also, where I installed the solenoid behind the battery box it hits the tool box.

I think that Arctic Cat did not change the pre-drilled holes for the solenoid to accomodate for the larger tool box.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks guys but I finally got it!

For future reference:

1. You have to take out the rear rack and body panels.

2. The solenoid does fit there with a little bit of work.
