Check this out, does any one have exprience with leaving your ATV in low when trial ridding the reason I ask my buddy has a older machine and it turns on a dime it is really torquie he gets great responce out of the ATV. Mine seems alot more combersome when "not" in low when tite trail ridding. Will being in low hurt my bike? I know my bike is heavy and built like a tank but I was just wondering.thanx!!!!!!

I run my sportsman in low almost all the time. But if Im gonna be riding above 20 mph I will go to high ,but it says right in the manual to run in low if your not going to be breaking 15-20mph because it keeps transmission temps down and prolongs belt life. Besides that I have huge tires so it requires low for keepin em spinnin in the thick stuff.

thanx for the response filthyhabit, my owners manual only says to use when pulling aheavy load, but the dealer says the same thing u did. My buddy has a Polaris and his dealer told him he worped his transmission cover because he drove it in 4hi to much.SO I think what u said is just another example proving it is better to use it in 4low when trail riding.GOOD RIDING,I HOPE YOU GET WHAT U WANT SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!BULLETS

Good question bob....any answers out there...I know when I'm riding my machine thru the trails it feels and responds better in low...just a little to sluggish in high
