I have an 99 AC400 with about 300 miles on it. I have not touched the value adjustment and I was wondering if I should. I called the dealer about it and they said that they had never adjusted the values on any ACs yet, and that it was just a money grabber service. I was just thinking about checking the values anyway. Does anyone know what the recomended value clearances are?

.002-.004 on the intake and .007-.009 on the exhaust.i have a 500 but i think they are the same when i did mine the intakes were right on and the exhausts were a loose .009 so i could have left them alone.the hardest part of the job is getting the gas tank off

It's not a money maker, it does help, if they're off that is. I just got the valves adjusted on my '98 Honda 300EX by a private Honda mechanic. The exhaust valve was a little too tight. If they're off, you will notice the machine harder to start, and lose power. Mine runs great now.

My cat is way over due for a valve adjustment.
I have a VERY LOUD noise that comew from the left side of the bike when riding. I not sure if it's the recoil starter, exhast, or valves since it only does it a certaint rpms.

What you guys think??

I think I will adjust the valves, but I just wondered if there is a gasket to replace, or if it is just a silicone seal?
