Default Broken CV 500i

Just broke the rear inner CV on a 03' 500i. The dealer only sells the entire shaft with inner and outer CV's. $195. Pulled it apart this morning. Has anyone pulled the inner CV out of the rear diff? I have everything thing else apart.

Push it all the way in then give it a good firm jerk, it may take a couple. If you don't have enough to get ahold of try a slide hammer. Be careful not to knock it off the supports.

i broke the front left upper cv joint saturday. how did you break yours. what kind of tires you running and are you running a lift. i am running the 28 laws with a lift. i took the lift off when i got home. cv angles look a lot better. i was not even going through anything on mine. i keep hearing a loud pop ever once in a while. when i got in first bad hole the front tires was not turning. we pulled it out backwards and the cage was broke as well as the cv. i only have 68 miles on my bike i hope the warrenty will cover this it is only 4 weeks old. will see

I don't think the warranty will cover it with the larger than stock tires. Best be would be to put on your stockers and take off the lift before you get to the dealer...

28X12.50 Outlaws on the rear and 28X10.50 Vamp EDL's on the front. Lift kit. I noticed yesterday that I didn't break the CV. It was the half shaft. The inner CV is still intact, except for the boot. I rode all day at Longview (Fun wheeler) rack deep mud and everything. My buddy broke the belt on his Grizz660 and I was pulling him out of the swamp. Got sideways on a stump and bam!! Broke the shaft in half. I still don't know how to pull apart the inside piece. It's eight pressed in or I will have to take apart the rear diff. Anybody know?

My 250 has rear cv shafts and they just pulled off with a quick jerk.If you want to improve the shafts I hear that gorrilla axles are heavier than any stock shafts.A lot of stress on stockers with lift and 28 inchers.

I am not suprised. My dealer said that arctic cat has honored the warranty even after it expired on a part that failed(factory defect) 3 years after the person perchused it.They covered rejetting my 250 because it was cold-blooded in cold temperatures.

Talked to the dealer today and he can't cover the half shaft under warranty. He said that if I had broken the CV then he could get it covered. I actually twisted the shaft in half just below the CV. Oh well, next time I won't try to pull 1,000 lbs out of a swamp by myself.

I broke mine on my 300. It was due to a cutt boot and the warranty covered it.

YOU MUST TAKE OFF YOUR LIFT! Warranty will cover BIG TIRES! that doesnt make a difference, but if you have a lift it will not cover the axels.

Your warrant should cover it cat500i,you better do some yelling
