I neglected regular maintenance. IE: In mud, use winch, get home, not unspooling and cleaning then respooling. I did not do this on a reg basis. Let this be a lesson to me, and all you who do not inspect and clean winch after every use.

I run a V plow in the winter and it messes up the cable pretty bad so I change it after the snow season. I also put a connector on the wires so its easy to remove. 4 bolts and unplug the wires. Makes it easy and the cable is only 30 bucks.

What are you supposed to do to maintain a winch besides cleaning the mud etc.?
Also, has anyone ever took apart their winch switch. I have the one with a handle that you twist to engage. It is not fully disengaging, feels like a spring inside may be stuck or broken. Any tips would be appreciated.

no I mean electrical wise. I thought you said you added connectors of some sort to make it easier to remove from the electrical connectors

Naa, nothing like that, just the 2 connectors that were already on there. Just a quick spin of the ratchet and they are off.
