Break-in period (A.C)
#1
I have a new Arctic Cat 400 Automatic with independent front and rear suspension. Wondering what advice is out there for proper break-in of a new machine. I've heard to keep it between 0-30 MPH for the first 100 miles. Is that all? Any opinions welcome.

The top speed is not important in the break in period. You need to be easy on the gas and make short trips. Let the engine cool down between. The engine will tend to run a little bit hotter during the first couple of hours because the rings are seating in the cylinder.
Bottom line--just be easy on her and don't let her get hot for the first couple of tanks.

My AC dealer AND my honda dealer both told me to take it easy for the first couple of hours. But it is a good idea to keep it below half throttle most of the time. Every once in a while get on it for a few seconds to put a little stress on the motor but not to much, then back off and keep on riding. They said that this is is important to help the rings(along with the rest of the motor), seat itself in properly. Seemed to work because I haven't had any problems with mine at all. After 1500 miles on the rincon, and 600 on the Big Cat.
