I thought Kawasaki had a ATV with there 500 KX motocross motor in it as well ,called the Kawasaki "Tecate-4 500" or where they just the KX250s powered "Tecate-4 250s" and people put the KX500 motor in them on their own?

The 2troke 500 motocross motors be it CR500,RM500,KX500 and YZ490 were all rated at about 54hp so for there power to weight they would handle the new 450 4 strokes pretty easily I would think.

 

You got it; throughout the years many a clever backyard engineer managed to cram a KX500 motor into the Teacte-4's 250cc engine bay. Here is one of the many clips of such a project on Youtube:


The general consensus from those who've attempted it seems to be one of biting off a bit more than they could chew in the process. However, none came directly from the Kawasaki factory.

If custom builds were included in this discussion, we would definitely have to mention some of the desert ("dez sled") drag racers we encountered about a decade and a half ago in Glamis: Extended Yamaha Banshee frames housing 700cc triple cylinder snowmobile engines converted to burn alcohol. Ridiculous for mere mortals!
