I plan on getting a Cobra Megaphone exhaust for my '86 Big Red 250. I was just wondering if anybody has put one of these on the 250 motor (250sx and the old trx250 utilities also), and how it worked. Thanks for any info.

Maybe I can help you a little here, I put the cobra megaphone exhaust on an 84, and 86 200x. There was a noticable difference from stock, a good sound, more torque, and more power. For the price of the cobra exhaust I would go for it.

84 ATC 300R, 86 ATC 200x

Well its on its way. I went in and ordered the megaphone! I also checked out the DS 650 in the showroom.....pretty spiffy.

Years ago I had a Cobra exhaust on a 250SX, it was really loud, if you don't have neighbors to combplain thats okay. I then got a DG system and was still loud but not as loud. I think the best all around exhaust is the SuperTrapp.

Well I have neighbors, but they'd be hypocrites if they mouthed about noise because they have 3 or 4 dogs that bark 24/7. The house to the other side, well the dude that owns it doesn't live there anymore, he just comes up to mow the lawn and stuff so he definately won't mind. I don't know why he won't sell the place. The dealer where I ordered it, well the manager of the place served me and he made it very clear that the megaphone was much louder than the stock exhaust, but I find the stock one too quiet, pretty odd when you complain about an exhaust being too quiet.

Big Red this is Threex2 on a different computer. With the 200x's we didn't have to do any jetting changes with them. If it's to loud for you, cobra has a sparkarester available for it called the sparky, should quiet it down quite a bit, that is if its to loud.

hopefully I won't have to get into the jetting issue. I find getting the carburetor off my three wheeler a pain in the butt because of where its located. Well, about the loudness, at least people will hear it and know who it is when I'm going somewhere.
