200X...forks 2 stiff

is there a way 2 make the forks softer?I noticed at the top there r little what seems like valves,i messed with it a little and somne oil came out...anyway,is there a way to adjust them w/o buying new springs?I cruise the desert and need them 2 be softer.Any advise would most likely help.THANK YOU!!

Those little valves on top are air valves just like on a tire. To start put the bike on a stand and get the front tire off the ground. Then press each one until no air comes out. With air in the fork the fork will be harder through out its stroke. Then try it out again. If thats not soft enough then I would suggest getting the specs for the min and max on the fork oil level. Then you can lower the oil level a little which in turn makes the fork softer in the 1/2 to full stroke of the fork travel.Pull the forks off the bike then pull the springs and gently bottom the forks then measure down to the oil level.(try to rent a fork oil level tool from your dealer)don't let the forks bottom out hard or you could damage the forks internals.Also don't go below the min or max for the level.
