Please tell me ALL about 82' 250R
Hello, i'm new to these forums for this reason
I'm in the process of getting a good condition 82' honda 250R ATC. Every thing looks good but I'm unsure about the machine back then. I mean 82 is Old School. Was it the first year of the 250R? Where there any known problems about that model? Is it true those things can reach 70 mph?! He got a new piston installed, clutch plate installed, and head gaskets. And the front fender is cracked. I know i can get it for about 600 hundred bucks. Good deal?

I think the 250r came out in 1980. i know for sure the atleast had it out in 1981. So no the 1982
250r is not the first year model. I used to have a 82 250R, and it was fun & reliable. It will beat you
to death though. There a blast to ride wheelies on and if you take the balloon tires off the back
& get some more flat track style tires, they turn pretty good to for a three wheeler since there so
low to the ground. If it's in good condition you will have some fun for $600.

$600 is a good price if the bike is complete and running. 81 was the first year R. The 82 is just about the same. Your biggest problem may be finding replacement parts. Ebay should have just about anything you need. Check out the link below for a good way to fix that fender.

Well thanks a lot, i'll save that fender thing (very nice) i hear sheet metal can work too.
Well i can see this 3 wheeler is gonna be great. He's gonna have a friend put in the clutch plate (i would of but oh well...) and then i'll test ride it. I haven't ever had a 2-stroke i've heard they're aren't the greatest reliabliltly, but hell, it's a HONDA

We had friends in a club I used to belong to in the mid eighties (Riverside ATV) that had older 250r's.. The only problem was them getting too hot on long desert rides - we had to take a break every 30 minutes or so. Of course this was solved in 85' with the water cooling.
