Default 250r restoration

Just last week someone gave my dad an 83' ATC 250r. He didnt know if it ran or not and said my dad could take it. We took it home and it started 2nd kick. All it needs is a set of rear wheels and rear brakes but seeing all of the rust on the frame, handlebars, and outside of the gastank. Now I have quite a bit of it torn down and i am getting close to painting it. Does anyone have any tips for when I go to paint and reassmble.

Do you have an Astro quad conversion? I have an 1986 250R (with conversion) and my front spindle broke and I need a replacement. I have new Work shocks and Tol 0 matic brakes on the front. If I cannot find the part I will need to part it out. Any ideas?

I would look at the chain (maybe be stretched) and rear axle (to see if its bent) etc. All these things while its off =)
