I have a stock 1982 185s with 20 inch blackwaters on back. What do you think the top speed for my atc would be? How much would a K+N air filter help?

 

They go just under 45 mph. A k&n will not do squat to that little puppy. No offense but why would you want an 185s to go faster . the brakes and wheel base and suspension are taxed to the limit as is. Just be careful.

 

one of my buds has a 84 185 and it woopes his 85 200s and the 200 does about 55 runing with my xplorer with speedo. but beeing a 82 i dono... thats a little week.

it all depends,sometimes you get a goer and sometimes you get a dog....

back in the late 80s all the guys in our area had atcs around the 185 to 200cc range, my 200x was considerably faster than most at 53 mph stock but the one guy the same size as me had a stock 185s which was just a touch faster on a cool temp day, and the other 185s in the group was about as fast as the other 200 bikes(about 45mph) and the rider of that 185s was about 60 lbs lighter.

so its hard to tell,sometimes you get one that really goes.


I'm also thinkin' that the 20" blackwaters are gonna rob some top speed, didn't they originally come with 22" rears?

the filter won't do much by itself to help speed

 

my 185s is KICK @$$ i mean i beat ytm 200 an 225 shats 200s and a 200x on top end how i cant really explain. i had it clocked at 55 mph with a car and also it is the same exact speed toped out as an rm 65 just not as quick. but hey its a 185s who cares about speed just take the thing on ice snow an mud an have a blast. everyone who oves to play in mud an snow with three wheelers get an big red 250 es the are the cadallic of mudd boggers i went throught more than an sports man 500 POLA@$$

 

I clocked my 185 at 55 mph it can almost keep up with my 85 200x

 

I got my 1983 185 3 wheeler up to 50 mph
