I picked up a 110 for free this weekend and the only thing wrong with it is the shifter if broken off. The only problem is it isn't the actual shifter it is the part that sticks out of the engine that the shifter is connected to. There's a little left so I'm going to try to weld it back on for know but I was wondering if it would be hard to replace this piece or expensive I think it is the shift fork assembly Thanks

 

changing that shaft isn't very hard. you have to take off the rightside clutch cover. then you'll see the end of the shaft coming through the case at the bottom. it has splines on the end that the clutch release lever goes on. slide off the cltuch release lever, making sure you remember the angle it sits at. you might also have to disconnect the shift drum actuator linkage, don't remember. then it just slides out the right side of the case.

 

Thanks for the info. I just wasn't sure if I should just weld it up for know or fix it the right way. I guess I'll stop at the dealer tommorrow and see if they can get the part. I bombed around on it today but had to shift with a vice grips. Pretty scary seeing the chain is right there. Thanks again

 

i just reread you thread title. oops. i'm talking about a honda 110. but i would bet the kawie is pretty similar.

 

i have a 1984 kawasaki klt 110 and it is popular for them to break off or strip. i used a pair of vicegrips and i do not recomend it or you will end up like me. with half of two fingers cause they went in the chain
