Default Split Wheels Leaking Air

I recently bought new tires and put them on the factory split wheels on my Honda ATC 110, but they won't stay aired up. The air is leaking at the seam where the two halves of the wheels bolt together. The bolts are good and tight. I even tried putting a bead of silicone on the wheels before bolting them back together. The air completely leaks out in about two days.

Any suggestions?

I have the same exact problem with my atc 125m and 250 big red, the only thing that worked for me was putting honda tire sealant in the tires. We tried to get a rubber O' ring put in it but they said they couldn't because the tire wasn't meant for a 2 peiced rim and their insurance wouldn't let them. You might want to try one of those, but i've heard that the sealant rusts your wheels but i don't know. Good luck.

My wheels were rusty and there was dried crusty sealant stuck to the inside of the wheels. I cleaned them up and put the orings back in place, but it didn't work. The factory orings were in really bad shape.... dry and crispy. I have ordered some new ones from bikebandit.com. Hopefully that will fix it. Let me know if you come up with a solution.

Thanks for the reply.
