To Build a Dream....
#1
Ok i work at a place beside a plant but i run back and forth on a dirt road alot.. aka (15 trips) a day. my boss finally agreed i could run my 1984 ATC 200s back and forth. hehe... i'm looking into a trailor as i don't want to take off my Rangers hard top. But my question is this.
I have seen alot of peeps here talk of mods and that, honestly i know very little about Trike engines ect.. i can do the basic everyday care of the machine (change oil, treatment, filters, and Tires) and i can wire some of the best sound systems you will ever here but trike upgrades are beyond me. i was hoping i could get the uber doers here to give me a idea of what i need to do? Its all stock i got a nice digi cam i will get a pic up soon. its red with 3 brand new knobbys on it. runs great never in 7 yrs has it failed to start first try even in winter. its also a pull starter... (if you can tell me how to make it a kick/electric i would be uber happy)
Ohh one requirment it has to.. and i mean it HAS to be able to smoke my GF's 250 Rancher on open stretch hehe...
OK guys just need help building this into a dream trike... any websites that have good info would be greatly appreciated.

The only way you can get more power is to put a bigger engine on it. I wouldn't stick too much money into a wheeler that has no reverse or suspension. If I were you, I would save up to buy an old Big Red. These wheelers were workhorses and were fairly quick.
If you're dead set on modifying it, start with an aftermarket exhaust. Then go to a compression piston and top end job. I doubt you'll get much power from that little wheeler.
Good luck

if you stick with the 200s motor, you can get some extra hp with these mods. big bore, stroker crank, run a atc 200x cam, xr200 bike carb(26mm, any year but 84-85), aftermarket exhaust (supertrapp 3 inch with header), raise compression to around 10:1, advance the ignition timing, have head ported, open up airbox, etc. by this point the centrifugal clutch might have a hard time holding up to the power, and don't forget that you still don't have rear suspension. you'll probably be better off leaving it alone, maybe a pipe and air filter and rejet, and just riding it. these machines are very reliable stock if you maintain them, sounds like best thing for you if you don't know much about them or aren't ready for the increased maintenance hi-perf mods require.
