smok3d- your friends 250r dosent run right because it was jetted for a 295 cylinder. so shes ganna be a bit on the rich side untill you rejet it.
*** by the way guys you can get a 295 sleeve for 160 (about) and drop it into a 250 jug. so it would be a 295. (no need to buy another cylinder.)***

Zilla, your Bronze or "National" DG exhaust is about the only one available for those years so you're good there. Yeah, I forgot, the original 300 kits or "red heads" actually were a complete head, jug, piston etc. and was quite expensive. The 295 kit may be worth looking into. I had also had the top end and cylinder blasted and anodized to help heat dissipation and good looks of course. I miss the ol girl.

Wiseco will still make pistons for the old 300 kits and they make over bores also. The draw back is you have to order at least 4. Here is a link to a guy on 3ww (he also used to come on here) that was looking for someone to go in w/ him and buy some. http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/v...ic.php?t=13588

Another Pro for air cooled is that you can rebuild the top end in under an hour. Mine rings took a dump and I had the cylinder off in 15 minutes. If I would have known it was just the rings and pistons, I would have ordered them and had it rebuilt in 45 minutes total. But I need to now order rings and piston.
