Default honda 200s

ok i have accepted the fact that i can live with this tug of war..........now on to the engine rebuild.....she makes a lil smoke and only wants to run at half choke ......any thing i should check first?

are u letting it stay on choke for a lil bit? It happpens to me if i dont let it stay on choke for a lil bit then i cant run it ,and the decompression cable u dont need it i never use it i just pull and i starts right up.

yep i let it stay choked for a good while and then as soon as i turn choke off the engine dies

check the jets u might need more gas u have to much air and not enough gas going in the carb its easy i did it like 3 weeks ago to mine that should fix ur problem

Edit : Did it turn off after a while of being chocked?

Your ignition timing probably needs to be readjusted.This is typical if the spark fires too early before top dead center.This is accessed under the little cap on the top left hand side of the motor.good luck

When I referred to your timing it sounds like its too far advanced in the cycle hence the cord getting jerked out of your hand when the piston gets forced back down on its way up.This also explains why its running poorly.Try retarding the spark by adjusting the plate under that cap where your pickup coil is and before this check the integrity of the little fly weights and springs.This is the spark advace they could be stuck or a spring broke.Good luck
