rebuilding 250R forks
#11
It is usually easiest to get the allen screw out first while the spring and everything else is holding the guts from turning.
You can use an air impact to spin them out.
Or, make a tool to hold the dampner tube.
After the allen is out and the snap ring removed you can stroke the forks smartly and they should come apart.
When you go to put them back togather, if you don't have a bushing and seal driver, you can make a very workable tool from PVC pipe.
Be careful with the bushings.

I have seen a couple trikes with late model inverted cartridge forks from moto X bikes on their 3 wheeler. Apparently, the only mod you have to do have the triple clamp machined for the different diameter of the fork tube.
Then you won't have to worry about fork seals.
Oil leaking down mine right now too, but I have been ignoring it while my wife's sled is still apart (I have to have it back together by the weekend to go riding).
