Default 84 200s question

I have a 200s in great mechanical condition but the only way I can keep it from falling on its face when you rev up the engine is by keeping the air box lid off. If I leave it off, it runs like new. Then I know that it is running rich. there are no restrictions in the frame to the air box or in the box itself. The air filter and plug are brand new and no performance upgrades have been made. I have good compression and needle clip is in the middle position. Idles great with or without air box lid.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the fuel level in the float bowl. Sounds to high. The fuel valve, it's seat, or the floats may be faulty.
You will have to have access to what the level is supposed to be, but usually it is near the gasket seperating the float bowl from the carb body.

Also the jet needle/main jet could be worn letting to much gas in the throat.

Default 84 200s question

Just changed needle in mine and "bent" float to shut off flow better.

Stupid needle is like 30 bucks!!

Trike would only run WOT, as soon as you would let off, it would stall and the air cleaner box would start to fill with fuel.

Runs great now.
