A race against a STOCK VS. Stock ATC 250- of any brand against a stock DS-650. 3 Races actually. 300 ft. drag race, Comp hill at Glamis, and 4 lap mx race.

Interesting,

Few have exceeded the power to weight ratio of the atc 250r.

By process of elimination, a piped banshee beats the atc, and the ds runs with (or beats) the banshee. So, the ds beats the atc. I don't want to hear any garbage about how the stock atc will beat a piped banshee. Forget it. It ain't gonna happen. Anyone that says so has been dropped on their head too many times. I owned an '85, and my friend just sold his. Now we both own banshees, and they are definitely faster, no matter what anybody else says. Hills or 300 foot drag, I put a LOT of money on the ds. As for an mx track, c'mon. Given identical riders, the atc is still missing one tire, and a heck of a lot of stability compared to the ds. Win goes to the ds, on all counts. 'nuf said.

Power to weight ratio including a 175 lb rider -

ds - 48 hp - 460 + 175 lbs = 13.229 lb/hp
atc - 32 hp - 295 + 175 lbs = 14.688 lb/hp

Any questions???

HEHE,
Thats why I said 3 races, not 1!!! 2 out of 3, who would win??? Ill give you the Glamis hill, You give me the MX track, That only leaves 300 FT. to settle it. Close..

Personally, my money IS on the ATC, but ....

That's right,it is missing a tire and all that other crap that makes atv's heavier.I seen a toomey piped banshee shootin around at the local riding area with a ATC250R,the 250R didn't looked that much modified, just that it had some chrome pipes,it looked fairly good condition, but the banshee looked bad.Anyway, there is this little pit area with some pretty good hills and stuff.Coming around turns and taking off that 250R killed the banshee. In the long run(seeing how there is a lot of desert in Arizona and a lot of places to open up)they were both pretty close
but the banshee had the lead, but not by far, just about half way past the ATC.But man, that ATC was beating that thing up hills, around turns, jumps,it was cool, everybody was standing around watching these things. It was cool to know that an old 13-14(it was watercooled) year old bike was killing a new hot looking quad. The banshee did sound and look bad though!

Sandmanblue...do you want to hear stuff like a stock atc will spank a stock banshee, and a piped atc will spank a piped banshee?

Stock HP and weight
DS 460lbs+175lbs / 48 hp = 13.23lbs/hp
ATC 295lbs +175lbs / 32 hp = 14.68lbs/hp
Banshee 390lbs +175lbs / 38 hp = 15.00lbs/hp

* The banshee looks awful slow on paper?
* I thought the DS had 55 crank HP?

LT500R 393lbs+175lbs / 68 hp = 8.35lbs/hp
I only have looked at a dyno sheet for a near stock 500r and it was 68. Are we measuring crank hp or to the ground hp?

Sandman, Why would you compare a STOCK ATC250r to a PIPED Banshee? Maybe I should compare a stock mustang GT to my big block powered Nova. I can tell you from first hand experience that an 85/86 250r with a good pipe/silencer like a Paul Turner/Duncan Racing High Rev and a set of reeds will beat a similar Banshee. A guy I worked with and his buddy had a pair of '96 Banshees back in '96 and one had a coolhead, reeds, carbs, and Paul Turner High Rev exhaust the other had Wiseco Pistons, reeds, and toomey's. Both were jetted well and all that crap, I drag raced each of them several times down a hard sand fire road and neither could touch me from start to finish I easily pulled away, they even had other people ride their bikes against mine and still they were beat. They were pissed (not at me) that their new $5500 quads got clubbed by a 12 year old trike with maybe $1500 into it if you include the purchase of it and the new plastics and paint job which obviously had no effect on speed.

He had 3 teeth missing from his front sprocket? Seems like you'd throw a chain at any speed with that setup...
