Yes it will work. You need to be sure that you use the cdi box that goes on a trx. The 85 atc cdi is different. I ran into touble trying to make this work, turned out I had a 350x cdi( looks like and will plug into trx harness). The plugs from the stator will work, they are the same on 85-86 atc and the trx.
