pull rope HELP!!
#1
well, last weekend i riped the handle off. i dont have a decomp cable and occasionally it jerks back and this time it snaped. the rest of the rope spooled up inside. i rode the rest of the weekend having to push start it which gets old quick. i hear that these assemblies are somewhat complicated, so i want to be informed before i tear into it. so basically how do you replace the pullrope on a 1986 200s? basic steps, how tight to wrap the spring and such. any help would be so very helpfull. i jsut dont want this thing to explode on me when i take it off. also is there anything else that i might check when i have it off? help me!

that is the bigest pain in the a$$. I've had to do it to mine about 3 times. Make sure you get a good strong rope that will fit through the hole. And make sure its long. Cuz if you dont it will break. If you can remember how you took it off its real easy to put back together. The compression cable will be the hardest thing take you will have to do through the whole project. As for the whinding part do it about 5-10 full turns. Then find where the end of the rope is, and pull it through the hole. Make sure you pull enough out to tie it to the handle. The best thing to do is to pull about 2 feet of it out take s vice grip and clamp it on the rope near the hole. Then tie it onto the handle. Put it back on the three-wheeler and ride.
hope this helps some

i'll probably stop at the local saw shop and get a real pullrope. so the whole assembly comes off the side of the engine and then i take it apart more from there? i have about three weeks before i need it again so i have plenty of time to figure things out. how much water can these things take in the pull rope. i know its not ment to be there but it happens. i notice that it will drain out of one of the holes through a rubber piece in the bottom, so i have assumed that it just goes in and back out. well, i'll geter done. hey, while i'm workin on it, i might think about a jet change. i ride alot down here at about the 700ft above sea level, but i spend most of my time in the summer up around like 4000+ft, and it seems to have alot more get-up down here and runs alittle eratic up there. the idle if fine but i'm thinking that i might make a compramise on the jet size or jsut get a different jet to run the higher elevation. its not hard to change out jets is it? i've always jsut settled with something that runs, but i'm gettin to like things that run good. well, any advice? i'll probably make a new topic out of this actually. still, any advice?
