I am about to start "repairing" the wiring harness on my 86 250r. the guy i got it from said the stator was bad but as hacked up as all the wires are, I am hoping that they are the culprit. If they are not does anyone know how to test the stator to see if it is bad?? I have a test light and a multimeter. Also which wires do i hook it up too??

OHMS....but my book only covers the 200's so I can not tell you what wires to check.....as far as the specs ...if it ohms out, it is good, if I am reading this correct.

 

Call your local service place and they will be able to give you the proper readings.

 

I need to know what it is supposed to ohm out at though. My local service shop would not really be able to help me.

 

Here you go.

exciter coil:blk/red and ground:50-250 ohms
lighting coil:white/yeoolw and ground:0.1-1.0 ohms
pulse generator:blue/yellow and green/white: 50-200 ohms
