gas tank wet sanding
#1
Does anyone have any advice on how to wet sand my 1985 ATC 250r gas tank. I have heard that you can make them look really good by doing this but mine has a very light white colored film everytime I get done sanding it. What grit should I use? Is there a wax or sealer I could use that may help bring out the color. I can not find a new tank so I need this one to look as good as I can.

Ok heres the deal
Use 800 or 1000 grit paper, rub lightly to take out the little scratches. You will need a buffer/polisher also 3M has buffing compound, this will be required also. you will have to wet the tank with water or spit on the sand paper.
Then use the buffing compund to work out the fine scratches. and use paste wax for a car and wax the tank.
good luck

I got mine from rockymountainatv.com. Denniskirk sells it too. It works amazing. It puts like a film of plastic wax and shines like new. It gives you everything you need. Sandpaper, steel wool, ect. Its like 20 bucks but I did my whole 350x and back fenders on my 400ex and I still have more than half left.
