Default heat trouble

my friend has a 86 200x with orginal tires. but it has no spark after you ride it for awhile.it is not the cdi because when you put snow on the motor it will start rigth away. but with no snow you have to wait for it to cool to get spark and get it going. have replaced the coil going to the spark plug did not work. took off side cover put in new pick-up coil tested for 20 mins dont know if is fixed . every thing looked nice inside but pick- up coil had some wear markes on it. there was also oil behind cover normal or not .is this heat proplem comon or just hit or miss.

I THINK ITS YOUR CDI BECAUSE YOUR CDI IS WHAT SENDS IN THE SPARK TO YOUR COIL. LOOKS LIKE YOUR FRIENDS CDI GETS HOT AND LOSES RESPONSE. WE HAD A 86 CHEVY S-10 THE TRUCK WOULD RUN GOOD UNTILL YOU TURN IT OFF AND THEN TURN IT BACK ON IT WONT SPARK THE COIL IS GOOD. THE CDI WOULD GET HOT. THEN WE REPLACED IT AND AND NEVER FAILED TO START WHEN ITS HOT.
SO I RECOMMEND YOU TO CHANGE YOUR CDI DUDE IF YOU TRIED THE COIL AND SPARK PLUG GO FOR THE CDI NEXT. OR MABE YOUR STATOR IS MALFUNCIONING TOO TAKE YOU STATOR SOMEWHERE WHERE YOU CAN TEST IT IF ITS WORKING OR SWAP IT ON ON ANOTHER RUNNING 200X AND TEST IT IF IT WORKS. AND YES ITS NORMALL IF THERE IS OIL IN THE STATOR SIDE COVER. GOOD LUCK

The snow on the stator cover will start it in 2 seconds, the rest of the engine does not even have time to cool let alone the cdi. We dont know where there is another 200x. Does anyone know if another cdi works with this bike? I know it could be the cdi or do more people think it could be the source coil? Because it seems the snow on the cover makes it go like a match to gas and it has spark and starts first kick. If no snow is put on the cover it takes 10 - 20 mins to start. Please help . Thanks for the reply.

mabe something in your bike is making your stator get hot when you set on the switch. mabe a +cable is touching ground making your stator get hot. or mabe just need to replace you stator.

It was the pickup coil after all. The bike runs perfect now. Thanks for the help.
