2-stroke oil differences
#1
Has anyone ever ran 2-stroke boat motor oil in their bike? I dont see how are why it would hurt anything. I run the expensive stuff right now but I was curious about boat motor oil. I think half the oil thing is a crock. I mean does anyone actually believe honda oil wont work in yamaha's as good as the yamaha oil. 10 bucks for a quart of oil is crazy. I think I am gonna try the suzuki outboard motor oil. I guess it's all about money I just think it's funny they even make oil for 4x4's.

We use exxon 2-stroke in my brothers 80cc dirtbike and the same in my 85hp outboard. Been using it for 5 years now with no problem. In our snowmobiles we use Klotz synthetic. I use the same oil in my 550 jetski and in my 300r. No diff. Outboard motors at full throttle constantly at 5000 or more rpm's are more stressed then a quad that your not holding at full throttle for that long.

I have noticed over the years that many 2 cycle oils are crap, no matter what you are running them in. Stick with a good quality synthetic oil for premix situations..........oil injection systems can get by with a lower quality oil, since the oil has no chance to break down (it never sees gas until its headed for the cylinder).
I have run motorcycle oil in snowmobiles, and snowmobile oil in 4-wheelers, and so on. The only difference I have noticed is, snowmobile oil seems to be a little bit thinner, probably since it is designed to flow at cold temps.
