5 speed vs. 6 speed
#2
i know this isnt very scientific, but i've always liked the 6 speeds better; seems like the ratios are matched better for certain situations and acceleration. JMO
I dont know why companies have gone back to 5 speeds - to me some newer bikes seem to need a sixth gear.

6 speeds tend to be closer but TYPICALLY the general rule still applies. 4th gear is either direct or closet to it, and 5-6 are overdrives.
i say typically, because i believe 4th is a little under direct on the R.
i typically dont click 6th unless im cruising at high speeds or some moron wont stop on the flat drags and wants to do the fly by after i get out of it.
