350X and cracked case question
I purchased an 85 350X about a month ago and have been replacing a few items that were needed. The previous owner had replaced the 13 tooth front sprocket for a 14 tooth and did not file the case saver down and just left it off. When I put the 13 tooth sprocket back on i noticed that there was a crack in the left side case cover that is about ready to break loose. It looks to have been slapped by the chain at one point and time. The engine side of the case does not show any crack or indention from the chain. It looks as if it is just the piece of left side cover that is broken. I am not loosing any fluid or anything of that nature and it still starts first kick and runs like a champ.
Should i be concerned about this crack? Is it purely cosmetic or is it something I should look into fixing. Can i just JB Weld and forget. I am going to order a case saver this week to keep this from occuring again. Your advice is appreciated.

350X and cracked case question
In my opinion, let it be. Just keep an eye on it if it starts leaking. 9 out 10 its the spot in the middle that cracked and if you would look at the design of the inside it gets no oil in that area. Its a useless spot and usually gets broken if the chain pops off.

350X and cracked case question
Ill tell you what i did. When I started to restore it I wanted the bike as nice as possible so I took the case off and in that meaningless hole I used Bondo to fill it, then I sanded everything back down as nice as I could and hit it with some black heat paint. Honestly cant even tell, it looks factory.
