First of all 3 wheelers easier to handle and i raced my buddys 3 wheeler at the strip and his quad sport 400. you need more wait on the back of the bike to get more traction and if it has a wheelie bar then you should be alright but all around the 3 wheeler is better but only if you know how to handle it.....

So you think you could handle a 3 wheeler Full throttle off the start with the wheelie bar digging in and sterring the bike out of control into a forward barrelroll, this I gotta see.Seen it done by the EX Girlfriend on her quad, and what saved her according to the video was the 4th tire,if she'd been on a 3 wheeler she would've gotten hurt.

Like HA2, I have also been riding Three Wheelers for a long time.
In my case 26 years, yes since ATC 90 days.
However I am not a luddite and do also own a KFX400 and a Blaster
If you want to accurately compare, look at some of the models that used the same engine and some of the same suspension and drive components.
1986 ATC250R vs 1986 TRX250R
1987 Tecate 3 vs 1987 Tecate 4
Yes, in a drag race, the three wheelers win both times.
There are some situations where the quads have an advantage, down-hills, entering a corner, etc.
However, drag racing is not one of these situations.
To address the original post, I do not suggest building a race three wheeler if you are not already an experianced ATC rider.
Another instance that suprised me was tight woods, the three wheeler, in this case a TRI-Z, cut a narrower and quicker path thru the trees than my KFX400.
If you look at the transitional years when they made both quads and three wheelers.
They raced togather in Baja and the three wheelers still won their share.
So just because you saw an ATC on TV, don't think you know the whole story.

yes those both win stock, but when we start talking about wheelie bars, you're talking heavily modded bikes. and weight doesnt play a factor when they're making titanitum drag frames and all kinds of light weight parts for quads only. unfortunately the trike's aftermarket is dependent on the trx's aftermarket so any drag parts for a trike are undoubtingly trx compatible as well.
now if someone started making drag frames for an R trike, i might change my mind and get back in line with the wheelers!
im building a drag port 350 as we speak, so its not like i dont believe a trike cant be built to haul the mail. i just think its easier and safer to do a quad.
