Default Spark?

Hello all, I am new to the board and was wondering if I could pick a few brains. I am trying to get my 81 185S running that I had as a kid so that my son can now ride it. It was running but it has lost spark. I tested the ignition coil to be good and I believe the stator coil and lighting coil are bad per the repair manual I have. The manual states that if I touch the stator lead coming out of the plug/harness to ground I should have 100-400 ohms. I get nothing. The lighting coil is shorted as well per the manual because when I ohm the two leads I also get nothing. Does anyone have a stator assembly lying around that they would like to part with? Also, is there a way to rule out the CDI box? Thanks in advance.

If youre ohming it out and get nothing...then you have an open circuit.
When was the last time it ran? What happened since? Tried changing the spark plug? Its possible that it has points in the ignition and not a cdi box, I could be wrong. Do you have a battery in it? It wont get spark with out a battery hooked up.
Is this the motorcycle or three wheeler?

If you are sure you tested the correct points for the stator assembly, Then I might suggest to remove it from the bike and do some close testing. I went through this a couple months ago with the wives quad. Had to resolder the wires to the windings (saved myself about $120) . Mine was just a loose connection, came and went, pain in the butt to find! In your book there is a test procedure for Ohming the CDI box.

my book states it is yellow wire to ground for the lighting coil (set on R X 1)
and For the Exciter coil; Black/red wire to ground (set on R X 10) = @ 245 ohms
